My Little "No Frills" Dancer

JC did a 6 week session of tap, ballet and tumbling. We love these short sessions because you can try things out. JM did it last time, so it was JC's turn. Notice JC could care less about a skirt like the other girls and kept her sweater on.

What I discovered is JC is really good at the tumbling portion. The dance I suppose was fun for her, but I saw a bit more skill in the tumbling portion. Of course she has done gymnastics before so it isn't new, but definitely came easier to her. We'll hit that again in the summer I think!

Winter Dancer

JM did a 6 week session of ballet and jazz. Right up our ally right now - no commitment! Today was the last day. And then afterward we viewed the cute decor in front of the Y. It was cold!

Two Ballerinas

We did a little 5 week session of ballet this summer. I love these. It is so much easier than a school year of it and the kids don't get tired of it. And we are at the age right now that the girls are actually in the same class! Not sure if that will ever happen again, but we got lucky this time.

I loved the class too. The girls had to work on certain skills, but every other activity was a fun imaginative game where they'd pretend while also using graceful ballet motions.

And JC likes no skirt. I know this will baffle Mia since she bought her a cute little skirt. JC wore it the first two times, then she'd had enough of skirt wearing all together.

Anyway both girls really enjoyed the class. This was JC's first time to try ballet and I am enjoying seeing her flit about the house now. JM of course has always been a dancer around the house.

In other news the girls completed swim lessons and were promoted! YAY!

Staci Gray - Party Time

Well, JM and JC's birthday party happened and we just couldn't have had a better day! The weather was great and we had a huge turn out of friends. Above is the painting on banners we did at the beginning of the party. Some kids were pretty happy just to hang out on the play scape. We also let the kids make their own ice cream sundaes. Our theme was hearts and we decorate with red, pink and hearts.

And here was our surprise entertainment! Staci Gray! I didn't tell my girls becasue I wanted it to be a surprise! It was! JC was pretty clueless, but JM was excited. When meeting Staci she was pretty quiet though, but I could tell she was happy. Goodness I could tell that by how she danced and smiled through every song! Staci Gray was awesome. I was very pleased. Staci is totally engaging and captivating and the kids really hung on her every word! She will soon be coming out with a new cd and we will definitely be one of the first in line!

Dancing is SOOO much fun! I could not believe how much those kids jumped around!

The very last song was a bubble song. Dancing in bubbles is so much fun!!

Sigh...this was fun!
My friend L who my girls just love! Thanks for coming L! And thanks to our party elves - Mia, Poppy, Aunt J and Cousin K! It was great that you were all here to help and to celebrate with us!

Ballet

JM started a 5 week ballet class. I was actually trying to convince her that the footless tights were cool and great for the summer, so I grabbed my camera to show her how awesome I thought she looked! So awesome that I needed a picture! Well, honestly she did look great! We did our photos in the bathroom as you can see because we have nice natural light in there. I darkened her though to focus on her beautiful silhouette.

So, in the fall what to do what to do? She says she wants to do dance AND gymnastics! I may just let her, then she'll have to choose once she gets in Kindergarden though. She still has one semi-leisurely year before school. We'll see how busy we get and what we have time for.
