Longview Summer 2010

Our sweet cousins. We love getting a chance to visit every summer.

We also spent two weeks at Mia and Poppy's house this summer. Lots of pool time. The girls took an art camp at The Longview Museum of Fine Arts. Great fun. In the alley downtown is a wall with a painted bench they pretended to sit on. Also Mia and Poppy have a large yard and at some point the girls had to run laps for not listening. My bright idea. At least it was extra exercise... We had so much fun. Thanks Mia and Poppy for letting us stay so long!!

Bringing Back Play

Well, we always play, but this is our first mega playdate since having JE in our life! Made great use of our beloved yard with shaving cream, bubbles, painting on a clothesline, sidewalk chalk, and play doh. And best of all - lots of new and old friends! The only thing that's different with three girls instead of 2 at a playdate - less hands for lots of pictures! Can you tell Shaving Cream was a hit?

Lemonade and Ice

I love when my kids want to repeat things we've done in the past as if they are just everyday things we do. We are project people for sure.

Passed lemons in the store - LETS MAKE LEMONADE MOM!!! Sure...
The picture of JC is her putting a spoonful of pure lemon juice in her mouth - not even a sour flinch! How does she do that? Check out the winter footed pajamas she chooses to wear in June.

And in the upper right photo the girls have frozen balloons in bowls and are trying to melt them now. In the past I've created the toy glaciers, but this one they did all on their own and got out the medicine droppers to start melting them.

The Greenbelt Calls

Every year I think the greenbelt calls hubby and says Come on down! So, even though I am 3 weeks post surgery and we have a three week old - here we go! ha Thankfully it was a shorter walk and I am feeling really well. The kids had a blast! (And the blue bonnnets along 360 this year are amazing!!!)

And some friends gave us some life jackets that their kids outgrew. YAY! I am so glad because it made watching the kids a lot easier! I wasn't nearly as nervous as JE and I watched from the shore!

Also, a college girl game through with her dog and the girls played with her dog a long time and the girl took our first family photo! :-)

Where I Find You

The phrase "Where I find you" is used often in my mind. I enjoy keeping mental pictures of where I find God. Of course its often in nature and my children. It's a great way to have a grateful heart and know what God is always doing around you. I receive a great amount of contentment from putting myself in this frame of mind.

Tonight I had the thought "Where I find you" when going to check on my girls and finding them like this. JM is sleeping on the end of JC's bed, while JC is sleeping in her stuffie bin. You just never know where you might find these two!

The Labyrinth

Went to Brushy Creek Lake Park Trail today.

See my family meditating in the labyrinth? ....Let me just say we are ALL very bad at meditating.

Fun park near the soccer fields.

My rock hopping hubby who has a rock hopping buddy in JM.

We were tired after this walk. But I have promised to go again with the girls after school so we can spend more time at the park. Besides it's great exercise!

Clompers

Posted by Picasa

JC found all FOUR Clompers and apparently we had to celebrate it! They knew I bought some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and of course that's how we should celebrate! Can't argue with that! Yum!

Unconscious

Posted by Picasa

Well if you've had any communication with our house this week you know I have been very sick all week. And, I'd say I spent the last 3 days mostly unconscious. I am a bit sluggish and foggy today bbut hopefully on the mend. And to think this was not even the flu, but it took everything out of me! Goodness!

The first day of unconsciousness JM was in school and hubby got her on and off the bus that day. And he stayed home and ran errands with JC. Then when JM got home they proceeded to watch Star Wars over and over. On the 2nd day of my unconsciousness I guess hubby figured out I was serious about this being sick business and had the girls paint outside while he did some yard and patio work! Go Dad! You think maybe he reads my blog sometimes for ideas? And on the third day they may have played outside for a bit, but then they watched Star Wars 2 and 3...or whatever they are called. ha Are they obsessed? YES!

I can't say for sure if anything else interesting happened. I know my lawn looks mowed and my back patio looks clean. :-)

Play Doh Play

We had a play date today where we just got out our mega play doh set to use with our friends. JM made this starfish, but this is the star fish after she destroyed it and re-made it quickly for a picture. :-) She and her friend J also made a tower. They played for so long in the playroom together working on "stuff." Thank goodness. Some days the play room gets little use so its nice when friends come over to show them how to use those toys!! :-)

The blue plate is dinner I made last week. All JCs favorites - kiwi, cucumber, tomato, and veggie rice. In fact when JM saw it she said "Yuck!" Who ate NONE of it - JC! Who ate ALL of it - JM! It makes no sense! Yes, I am aware this a boring dinner and no that's not what I had! :-)

Now the green bowl is a fruit bowl my mom gave me. It has a little colander insert so you can put freshly washed fruit in the bowl and it won't be sitting in water drips. JM loves this bowl and is always taking it out of my cabinet. Today we had to run an errand to pick up some furniture from someone and she whipped up her own snack bowl. Inside is Veggie Booty, juice pouch, and pudding with spoon! She had it all thought out! Of course I let her take it on our little trip!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Our friend J put together an adorable Seuss playdate! We read Dr. Seuss books, made a red and white striped hat (Cat in the Hat), ate Seuss inpired snacks (Goldfish, green eggs and ham and MORE), and the kids got to be "Things!" They were instructed to wear red. Miss J had blue hair spray and Thing tags! My girls were Thing 5 and 6! It was too cute! They had a blast and were bummed it was a hair washing night! They wanted to have blue hair at school.
